SmartPi on 1-phase system
#1
Dear,

I the case of a 1-phase system with 3 or 4 current measurement, I know I have to power the SmartPi with N and L1 supplied, but how can I associate the I2-4 with the voltage of L1 ?

Can I connect L1 also on L2 and L3 on the SmartPi ?

Thank you,

Pierre

What I have ...
1-phase system only consumption no production....
The Amp readings
L1 the total of the house
L2(sockets+lights) a sub-sector of the (L1)electric board
L3(lights) a sub-sector of the L2 sector
in voltage readings they are all connected to the L1
V1=V2=V3
I get Wrong the total readings (L1+L2+L3) on the webpage but the rest works fine and I get the individual "L"s readings correct.

Hello,

Thank you Pedro Smile  In my case, I have A 230 V monophase circuit with PV production and an AC battery.

So it is quite predictable that the production will be only one way, but both battery and main line to the grid can export and import electricity, so I need to measure voltage also to know the direction of the current.

What is the best solution for me ?

I don't know if I can connect together L1, L2 and L3 for voltage measurement and measure current in different part of the same circuit...

Thank you for your help

Hello,

Any Idea ?

I see on the FAQ Application note for the ADE78XX family that there is an answer to my question :

Can a three-phase ADE IC be used for a single-phase application? Yes. It is possible to use a three-phase ADE IC for a single-phase application though not recommended. Three-phase ADE ICs are designed and tested for three-phase applications only.
However, if you do need to use it for a single-phase application, then it is important to consider a few points.
- If only one channel is to be used, then make sure that no signal enters through the other channels by grounding the inputs along with antialias filters.
If all three channels are going to be used to monitor three individual loads at the same time, then it has to be understood that you will provide a common terminal for the voltage channels.

Is there any hardware conception in the board that prohibit common neutral for the 3 voltage channels ?

Hello Pierre,

no.

There are plans for a future release of the SmartPi in the next year.

Best regards Jens
